Tomorrow

I'll be glad when tomorrow is over.

I voted. By mail. Last week. I put a lot of thought into the initiatives and local issues. I also put an awful lot of thought into the governor's race and presidential race. Tomorrow is finally election day and all this insanity should be over. The local races have been UGLY.

Tomorrow is also the delivery day for almost $25,000 worth of cookie dough fundraising product at school. I'm in charge of making sure it all goes away. I know it'll be a super busy and stupid day like it was for me last year. The plus side is that I'll be so freaking busy that the election stuff won't come into my realm of existence until after 6pm west coast time. By then it should be over one way or another. Do I have a prediction? No. I have a lot of fears about the outcome, however. And that's about all I have to say about that.

Next week I'll be in Orlando, Florida soaking in some sunshine chasing after a giant mouse. A much needed vacation by all of my family. We just booked it last night, talk about last minute! Spendy but worth it in the long run. It'll be the last time we have a chance to take time off as a family for a long while with the ship's schedule and all that. I may get a chance to go to San Diego in February to watch a test missile launch. Details about that are still a bit unclear but I'm hoping I can go!!

I'm so exhausted mentally right now I just want to curl up and sleep. Perhaps me + the couch should hook up...*yawn*

Suspected Burglar Helps Himself to Laptop, Milk

Kitsap Sun staff
Monday, October 6, 2008

BREMERTON

A 24-year-old Port Orchard man was arrested early Saturday for allegedly entering a Maple Street home, trying to take a laptop and then sampling milk from the refrigerator, according to Bremerton police reports.

The home's residents said they awoke to "banging" and "mumbling" sounds, and when they went to check on them, they confronted the 24-year-old, police said.

The Port Orchard man was allegedly attempting to take a laptop, and he pulled cords connected to it out of the wall. Upon seeing the residents, the man claimed he was at his home in Port Orchard, then went to the kitchen, grabbed some milk, and drank it, police said.

He then left and tried to get into the residents' cars, officers added.

Police used a tracking dog to catch up to him, arresting him in an area nearby. He was found to be under the influence of alcohol and possibly other drugs, and he was taken to Harrison Medical Center for treatment of bites the tracking dog made in finding him, reports said.

He was eventually taken to the Kitsap County jail on $50,000 bail.

Local News:

Lingerie-Clad Drunk Driver Jailed

CENTRAL KITSAP

An impaired driver was arrested early Sunday morning after she tailgated a Kitsap County Sheriff's Office deputy while trying to merge onto Highway 3 south from the Newberry Hill Road on-ramp.

The 21-year-old Bremerton woman was following too close behind the deputy, who was driving 85 miles per hour. The deputy pulled into the right lane on the highway, and the woman blew past him, according to reports.

The deputy followed the woman, turning on his lights and sirens. She slammed on her brakes and stopped in the left lane of the road. She then moved across the right lane of traffic onto the right shoulder, according to reports.

When the deputy approached the woman, he noticed she was wearing only a "one-piece lingerie undergarment" with high heel shoes, according to the report. The woman told the deputy she was coming from a lingerie party, where she had only one drink 40 minutes before leaving the party.

The woman failed the field sobriety tests and was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

At the sheriff's office, the deputy gave the woman jail clothes before asking her to use the Breathalyzer machine. She provided a breath sample of 0.110, which is over the legal driving limit of 0.08. She was taken to Kitsap County jail and held on $5,000 bail.

The weather...

Spring Taking a Winter-like Turn

By Ed Friedrich (Contact)
Monday, June 9, 2008

Mother Nature is giving Kitsap Peninsula residents another week to prepare for summer.

Don't sweat it if the seeds aren't sown, the boat isn't tuned or the body toned. There's still time.

The National Weather Service in Seattle is forecasting continuing March-like temperatures. Four of June's first eight days featured the coldest high temperatures on record in Bremerton — 52 on June 1 and June 5, 54 on June 6 and 55 on June 8. More of the same is expected Tuesday, said forecaster Dennis D'Amico.

Monday afternoon brought blustery weather. There were numerous reports of wires and trees blown down Monday evening.

"It's going to feel like a winter system where you get rain down here, snow in the mountains and it's a little breezy," D'Amico said. "It just so happens that we're getting 14 hours of daylight."

The sun might be up for 14 hours, but it hasn't been out.

Rainfall is running more than three times the average so far this month — 1.58 inches instead of .48 inches — and the mercury has broken 60 degrees just twice in June — a measly 61 both times. That could improve, though 70 degrees might be too much to hope for.

The weather service is forecasting partly sunny skies Wednesday through Sunday with high temperatures in the mid- to high 60s. Then, Sunday night, the clouds roll back in with their drizzle.

"There's no other way to cut it, it's been cold," D'Amico said.

The official start of summer is June 21, although normally it makes some dress rehearsals before then.

Anybody planning to play in or drive over the mountains should be aware that the weather service has issued a snow warning for the Cascades and Olympics. Snow plows returned Monday to Snoqualmie, Stevens, White and Chinook passes and the North Cascades Highway. As much as 6 inches of snow is expected in the passes. Up to a foot is expected at higher elevations in the Cascades, and the Olympics could see 4 to 9 inches.

Only in Bremerton

Well actually Silverdale...

Unsatisfying Sex Life Leads to Silverdale Woman's Meltdown

Kitsap Sun staff
Thursday, May 1, 2008

SILVERDALE

Highly intoxicated and dissatisfied with her sex life, a 28-year-old woman was arrested Tuesday for stealing her husband's wallet and later assaulting the deputy who booked her into jail.

The meltdown, which deputies witnessed along with the couple's 3- and 4-year-old children, started when the husband, 24, had told his wife they had three hours to quit smoking, drinking, swearing and engaging in some sex acts because "they were going to be good Christians now," the woman said.

The man said she had woken him up to have relations, but then became disappointed and angry.

Kitsap County deputies were called to the apartment on the 11800 block of Majestic Lane NW at 2:38 a.m. after a neighbor overheard yelling, crying and slamming doors, the report said.

When deputies arrived, the woman denied any assault had taken place, and repeatedly, without sparing a vulgar euphemism, told the deputies about how unsatisfied she was with her sex life — some of the time carrying around a half-gallon of whiskey while doing so.

During an argument with one of the deputies, the woman picked up the family's 20-pound dog and threw it at the deputy, who caught it, the report said.

The deputies convinced the couple to separate for the night, and the man said he was taking their children to a hotel. But the 28-year-old returned to the apartment and took her husband's wallet, military identification card and keys.

The woman resisted being arrested for theft — her screams were described as "blood-curdling" by one of the deputies. The deputy who drove the woman to jail reported she questioned his manhood, asked God to forgive him because "he knows not what he does," and "donkey-kicked" him in the shin while he attempted to walk her from his patrol car to the jail, reports said.

She was booked for second-degree theft and third-degree assault.

============================================

I don't spend a lot of time reading our local paper (or paper's website) but the Code 911 (police reports) in our local paper are usually very amusing.

The irresistable Movie meme

1. Pick 15 of your favorite movies.
2. Go to IMDb (or Wikiquote) and find a quote from each movie. (or in some cases, just remember them.)
3. Post them here for everyone to guess.
4. Strike it out when someone guesses correctly, and put who guessed it correctly and the name of the movie.
5. NO GOOGLING/using IMDb/Wikiquote search functions... that's cheating not guessing!

1. Why, you stuck up, half-witted, scruffy-looking nerf-herder!

<strike>2. I hate warriors, too narrow-minded. I'll tell you what I do like though: a killer, a dyed-in-the-wool killer. Cold blooded, clean, methodical and thorough. Now a real killer, when he picked up the ZF-1, would've immediately asked about the little red button on the bottom of the gun.</strike> The Fifth Element guessed by cassiecat192000

<strike>5. I’ll tell you what I'm doing. I want to buy eight hot dogs and eight hot dog buns to go with them. But no one sells eight hot dog buns. They only sell twelve hot dog buns. So I end up paying for four buns I don't need. So I am removing the superfluous buns. Yeah. And you want to know why? Because some big-shot over at the wiener company got together with some big-shot over at the bun company and decided to rip off the American public. Because they think the American public is a bunch of trusting nit-wits who will pay for everything they don't need rather than make a stink. Well they're not ripping of this nitwit anymore because I'm not paying for one more thing I don't need. George Banks is saying NO!</strike> Father of the Bride guessed by lotusbeans

<strike>6. I know your head aches; I know you're tired; I know your nerves are as raw as meat in a butcher's window. But think what you're trying to accomplish. Think what you're dealing with. The majesty and grandeur of the English language, it's the greatest possession we have. The noblest thoughts that ever flowed through the hearts of men are contained in its extraordinary, imaginative, and musical mixtures of sounds. And that's what you've set yourself out to conquer Eliza. And conquer it you will.</strike>My Fair Lady guessed by coercedbynutmeg

<strike>9. No, I don't think I will kiss you, although you need kissing, badly. That's what's wrong with you. You should be kissed and often, and by someone who knows how.</strike> Gone With The Wind guessed by coercedbynutmeg

<strike>10. Something about 11" of rain in 15 hours and 50 mph winds blowing off the water.

We're famoooooooous!! LOL
